…left people on The edge of their seats.”
Henry Benson
Tenor
Young American Tenor, Henry Benson has already been heralded for his “rich, powerful and eloquent” vocalism, his dynamic acting, and textual interpretation. As a Corbett endowed young artist at the Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music, Henry was critically acclaimed in leading roles throughout his degree such as Fenton and Male Chorus, while also distinguishing himself in new works in the romantic lead of Timothy Laughlin in Fellow Travelers and the antagonist, Dr. Baglioni in Daniel Catan’s La Hija de Rappaccini, roles which featured both his lyric abilities as well as his detailed characterization and craft. An outstanding musician and interpreter, He is a strong proponent of new works and has originated roles with Opera Fusion: New Works, Bulrusher (Cincinnati Opera), with other leading companies, The House on Mango Street (Glimmerglass Opera), and the leading role of Wilbur Wright in Finding Wright (Dayton Opera). He has been a member of The Glimmerglass Festival Young Artist Program for the last two summers (2023 + 2024). Next Summer, he is pleased to make his debut with San Francisco’s Opera Parallèle in the role of Scott Smith in Harvey Milk.
